Port Edgar Yacht Club – 5th to 8th of August 2021
Please review the Notice of Race
4 days of excellent racing, 4 fun social events (COVID permitting) and more competition than you can imagine…the Fleet will be buzzing with enthusiasm and also be well-practiced by then.
Up to four races a day may be sailed over windward/leeward courses, ideally with spreader mark and two gate marks. Of course this may be altered depending on conditions.
The race documents can be accessed at the PEYC website.
Socials will only be possible within COVID regulations. We hope to have 30-40 boats, and with 5-crew per boat, we expect to have a lot of competitors. Keeping competitors as safe as practical may result in changes to the social programme. Ultimately, our priority is good quality racing, but we will endeavour to deliver great social events if permitted.
However, assuming we can proceed, expect barbecues, pizza, real ale, dancing and culture!
Port Edgar Yacht Club should have moved into their new premises and will be keen to show us the best of what the Forth has to offer with their well-drilled Race Team.
PEYC are working hard to ensure this even can run in a safe and fun manner – those of you who haven’t organised such an event perhaps don’t appreciate what it takes. They’ve been on this for months…
As it is Edinburgh International Festival time you need to get your accommodation booked early. However Port Edgar Marina has also offered camping and motorhome/van space on the marina site. And if you have an extra day-off, you can always go to the Edinburgh Festival and the Fringe!
Hyde Sails are the main sponsor for – and they have been very generous.
Hawk wind indicators (a great British product) have offered us some excellent products for the daily prizewinners.
English Braids (another great British product) have offered ropes and halyard sets – so no excuse for that tatty string you have been meaning to replace.
Ineos – (another great British company) have sponsored our safety/mark laying boat.
Additional sponsors are sought and we’re working hard on it.
Tents and campervans
Camping will be not available at the Marina this year but will be for campervans. There will be hook ups, and the marina has toilets and showers. Tick this option on the entry form so we can confirm numbers with the marina.
Possible alternative glamping at Dundas Castle tel:01313192039
- Parkhead House
- Hawes Inn (From Robert Louis Stevenson’s book Kidnapped) on the sea front by the rail bridge.
- Ravenous Beastie
Boats in the marina may be available as Accommodation. We are in discussions with Club members to see if they are happy to make their boats available for the period. There will be a charge but we don’t have details yet.
